Rediscovering Meaning In Our Work
Presentations, Workshops and Conferences
Presentations and Workshops:
Dr. Deb Roman contributes as a speaker to medical conferences nationwide, exploring cutting edge ways to enhance physician health and well being and facilitating interactive discussions on the science of mindful practice and the cultivation of compassion in healthcare.
In our Rediscovering Meaning In Our Work conferences, physicians are invited to come together for a few days to explore ways to enhance their health and well being, promote collaborative healthcare system changes and rekindle their enthusiasm for professional work.
We bring together leading clinicians and researchers from around the world to present cutting-edge research and investigate innovative approaches and opportunities with physicians.
Our conferences are experiential and interactive (primarily small group discussions) and offer physicians ample time for relaxation and conversations with peers. Music, movement, and art are integrated into our retreat-like conferences.
For our 2018 Rediscovering Meaning In Our Work conference on September 28th and 29th, 2018, we enjoyed an innovative program at a unique, contemporary venue in Boise, Idaho. The 2018 event was hosted by the Idaho Osteopathic Physicians Association. For details about the conference, please click here.
In 2016, physicians met at a mountain resort in Sun Valley, Idaho for a 3 day conference hosted and sponsored by the Idaho Osteopathic Physicians Association. In 2016, our speakers included:
Dr. Colin West, Professor of Medicine, Medical Education, and Biostatistics at Mayo Clinic
Dr. Michael Krasner, Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry
Dr. Joan Halifax, a medical anthropologist, the Director of the Project on Being with Dying and the Founder of the Upaya Prison Project and Nomads Clinic in Nepal.

I was very fortunate to attend Dr. Deb Roman's enlightening and thought provoking presentation. I walked away feeling encouraged and validated that my struggles as a solo physician were not unique and that there are practical ways to reduce and manage the physical and emotional burnout that is so prevalent. I had several opportunities to speak with her one-on-one during the conference and am delighted to have found an unusually warm, compassionate and intelligent friend. — Dr. Bret B.
